This course provides an introduction to the fundamental principles of human nutrition and its influence on health and disease. Students will examine the physiological roles of nutrients along with the processes of digestion, absorption, and metabolism to understand how the body utilizes food. The course emphasizes the application of national dietary guidelines and standards, while also analyzing socio-cultural and psychosocial factors that shape dietary habits. Special attention is given to the role of nutrition in disease prevention and management, equipping students with the knowledge to assess how nutrition impacts overall health outcomes.

CHM1010, BIO1013 and BIO1014 with grades of C or better in each of these courses
