This course guides doctoral students through the early research and design stages of the Doctor of Ministry Final Project. Students develop a Final Project Proposal by refining their research topic, articulating the purpose and scope of the project, and situating the work within relevant scholarly and professional conversations. Emphasis is placed on conducting and synthesizing literature research to support the project’s conceptual framework and methodology. Students complete the literature review chapter of the Final Project and demonstrate the ability to effectively utilize scholarly sources to inform their research design and ministry context. In addition, students prepare Institutional Review Board (IRB) documentation to ensure that their project complies with ethical standards for research involving human subjects. By the end of the course, students will have produced foundational components of the Final Project necessary to advance to the next stage of doctoral research and writing.
